Little Free Library

Affordability and accessibility of books is a challenge for millions of kids in India. Pandemic has further made many families devoid of such basic need of ardent readers, book lovers and also for kids who read to build their knowledge. We have also people who are privileged enough to buy books and read and keep them in their bookshelves with no utility.

My dream is to make our books available to the community of needy readers. The small dent I would like to create in this universe with all your support.

Our mission is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Libraries.

Our vision is a Little Free Library in every community and a book for every reader. We believe all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege.

I lost both my grandparents due to Covid in 2021 and I built this library in memory of my Nana and Nani who loved to read and loved to give books away to everyone. People have lost their jobs due to Covid and I believe that reading and learning should be free for all and it really helps kids who are not able to afford books in good condition and it makes me happy to know that even when the whole world has gone digital we still have these libraries around for those who need it the most.

Living with disabilities is challenging and often discouraging when it seems a “normal” life is not possible.

Here I have met Nazir Khan who is challenged with both his hands and one leg, running his business of printing of flex banners. Regardless of his physical abilities, he is one of those amazing people who with their great determination and potential survive in most challenging conditions….such an Inspiration…”Disability is not an inability”.

I think personal disabilities can be a catalyst to fuel a more spectacular life, if a hopeful attitude combined with purposeful living is adopted.

This is one of my greatest learning while I started Little free Library, Thane. 🤍
